Excellent Apps and Time-savers for busy Recruiters!

The world of recruitment is fast paced, action packed and if you aren't organised, the day can run beyond you!

I am an advocate on apps and utilising software that assists me with my busy desk - the following are 10 various different apps, chrome extensions, and downloads that I use every day. Some of these have also been highlighted by the likes of Ed Hunter, Greg Savage, Roy Ripper and Shane McCusker. I habve found them all to be vital in achieving my daily and weekly goals.

Sidekick:

A chrome and outlook plugin that allows you to track emails and you are notified when an email has been opened.

My only concern with Sidekick is if a client or candidate tells me they didn't get my email when I know full well they have opened it, you are in state of limbo as to whether to mention it or keep quiet due to the fact you are cyber-spy (stalker)

 Grammarly:

A chrome extension that can check all types of spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors

This is a fantastic tool. It highlights errors, similarly to a spell check function, however, if you hover over the word or sentence, Grammarly will offer a suggestion and explanation…brilliant for some sending emails 'on the hop' or making sure any documentation is at it’s very best!

Sourcehub:

A search tool that allows you to search for candidates using a Boolean search across a variety of social media platforms including LinkedIn

This can be an excellent search tool to find specifics skillsets or ‘buzzwords’, allowing you to conduct a Boolean search saving you time and negating any confusion of where to put (), “AND”, “OR”

 Followerwonk:

An excellent chrome extension which allows the user to search profiles or bios via Twitter

An additional search function that can be useful for finding candidates who are social media focused!

Evernote

An app and extension which acts as a notepad, syncing with all your devices.

This one for me is a lifesaver, as I often take down notes on the commute home and reminders. Great for anyone who loves a to-do list!

Anymail finder

A chrome extension that allows users to find the email address of anyone.

Whether you are trying to build an initial relationship via LinkedIn or sending an introductory email, this extension successfully finds an individual's name through only requiring full name and company they work for…no more playing a guessing game to find that email address!

StandApp

An app which sets reminders and alarms for you to get up every 15mins, 30mins, 90mins etc

Sitting at your desk day in, day out isn't good for your health and that is a fact! Get up, stretch off, grab some water and have a quick chat with some of your colleagues.

Hootsuite

An extension which allows you to manage your social media platforms, utilise analytics which allows you track growth and schedule times during the day or week you wish to share content

I post a lot of content via LinkedIn, twitter and facebook (as everyone who is connected to me would say also!), so this tool of being able to diarise what times during the day I want to share and interact with connections and followers is time-saving and easy.

Feedly

An app and extension that allows you to collate favourite content

Similar to Hootsuite, I find this app is particularly useful for keep websites and content in one place, with ease of use in sharing it on Twitter etc

RoutinesApp

Routines app is a checklist for creating a morning, evening or daily routine

I am a big believer in having a morning and evening routine; this app allows me to keep a checklist and ensures I am on top form for the day ahead and can reevaluate in the evening!
