Friday I was checking the
RecruiterGuy.net analytics reports - web traffic, sources, trends, etc. - the usual geeky stuff. The idea behind taking a look at where people are arriving to
RecruiterGuy.net from, figuring out exactly what they're clicking on, is fun for me. Think of it as a puzzle - especially since many of the high traffic articles have less comments than some that are much less trafficked. Ahhh the mystery of dialogue.
Anyhow - it was interesting to see that my blog continues to get a steady amount of traffic from
RememberTheMilk.com. I shot out a
tweet about this a month or so ago when I first discovered this nifty service the same way I was reminded about it on Friday - via web traffic to my blog.
For anyone that's not ‘in the know' about Remember The Milk, it's a nifty little reminder service. Of course, I'm not sure they can be called ‘little' anymore as they're in their 3
rd year of service and last week announced a new iPhone application for their users. The idea behind RTM? In summary, it's a reminder service... on steroids.
An easy interface allows users to add tasks and items to their own list quickly and easily with just a few clicks. But that's where the basic stuff stops and the goodies begin. Use an instant messenger? Of course you do! So set up Remember The Milk to send you a reminder to GTalk, MSN, Skype, Jabber or any number of services. But wait... There's more.
If you're a tag addict (like I am) you'll love the ability to create a task cloud along with storing notes and creating as many lists as you'd like. One of my favorite features, however - is the map. Planning your route for the day is as easy as reviewing your listings on the map and deciding on what items can get done more quickly. With even more features like list collaboration and task management available the only thing that would make this service even more attractive would be the ability to simple fire off an email to add tasks... oh wait... you can do that too!
With
iPhone apps,
Google Gadgets, and more, Remember The Milk is definitely a web based service worth checking out if you're someone that isn't quite satisfied with your mobile's built in task manager or if you find yourself jumping back and forth between list management programs at home and work. I'd love to hear how some people are using RTM in a more unconventional manner... like to remembering to contact candidates, schedule interviews, event management or just to remember what
blogs to check out.
