How long should Recruiter keep resume?

Hi, Learning the business and how long should a Recruiter keep their candidates resume? Is there a legal law? silly question, just throwing this out there. Thanks much. Toni :)

Once a person makes a resume public I say as long as you want. I have many stored. However. I will NEVER send it out without the permission of the owner.

Hi Toni,

It can vary widely depending on local, state, and federal laws. I believe under EEOC, all hiring documents would have to be kept for at least 1 year.
