While many industries will post abstract, out-of-the-box advertisements to catch the attention of new candidates, there can be a certain expectation of formality and professionalism within the healthcare recruitment sector. Large job boards, niche job boards and even local job listings websites are popular platforms for healthcare employers to advertise their vacancies. Just how can advertisements featuring healthcare roles stand out without losing their credibility?
Design
Due to the high demand for positions in the healthcare sector, the design of an ad can be vital. While standard job board listings have little leeway in terms of ad design, some job boards offer premium ads which can provide more opportunity for improved design as a means of attracting potential candidates. Self explanatory symbols and graphics, like the healthcare cross or a heart rate monitor image make the purpose of the ad immediately obvious even at a glance.
Listing
Not all healthcare recruitment adverts will use graphics. They may just use a company logo alongside text information. It’s crucial that the text listing uses the right keywords to describe the role so that it ranks well on searches. Descriptions should clearly outline the responsibilities of the role, as well as the qualifications and credentials necessary to apply. Structure the listing with subheadings and bullet points to make it easy for readers to pick out relevant information.
Mobile Ads
Mobile recruiting is set to be one of the top industry trends for 2015, which means that we can expect to see an increased emphasis on healthcare employers featuring ads on mobile integrated job boards. With 43% of job seekers using a mobile device for their job searches, website layouts need to be optimised for phones and tablets. Many job seekers will use a mobile device to search for jobs, but will switch to a laptop or desktop PC to make an application.
Video Ads
As job boards evolve, we are seeing a rise in the inclusion of videos in job advertisements. Job listings which include a video can be more engaging and communicate a better idea to potential candidates of what is involved in the role. In terms of design, video ads allow more scope for creativity which could make them a good investment for those advertising healthcare jobs.
Place the Ad
You can have the best healthcare recruitment advert of all time, but place it on the wrong site and it won’t matter at all. Placement of the ad is integral to attracting relevant, highly qualified candidates. Posting onto a large job board means that the ad will be reaching a wide audience, but many of them won’t be relevant candidates. Choosing a niche job board allows you to target the right audience and therefore attract the top talent.
When it comes to designing a winning healthcare recruitment advert, it’s essential that the advertisement is clear, concise and easy to view. Job searchers often feel overwhelmed when scrolling through job listings so successful adverts are the ones that stand out and clearly explain the role on offer. Make sure the advert is placed on the right job board, and you’re onto a winner.
