Sourcing on Lesser Known Sites: AngelList

AngelList is site where you can learn about startups, get funding, get a job and place a job. IT is also a place where you can search if you know how. Now of course you can join and go through it that way. However as you can guess by now there is another way and you need go no further than into your bag of tricks and pull out an old tried and true tool, called x-raying.

So to source within AngelList you simply need to create an x-ray string, like the one below.

site:angel.co/ developer overview -company

Now before you run it lets look at this and let me explain. angel.co is the site url however to get to what you really want you need to first state what you want. In this case developers. Then you need to use a word or phrase to help narrow down you results to mostly profiles. For AngelList overview appears to be specific to peoples profiles. TO make sure you exclude the word company. Then you get the string above

If you run the first string above in google you will get the results below

As you see above 4 of the first 5 are people are profiles. Now for an added bonus, if you have the time you can actually use this string

site:angel.co/* developer

Were you see the * just put any first name such as alan and you get this string

site:angel.co/alan developer

And with it you get the results below

So you can always just start at the being of the alphabet and work to the back. Below is a link to a good resource for names
