Experts Exchange is a website for people in information technology related jobs to ask each other for tech help, receive
instant help via chat, hire freelancers, and browse tech jobs. Expert Exchange is a
little-known site and few have tried to source in it. Well to do this without worry you need go no
further than into your bag of tricks and pull out an old tried and true tool, called x-raying.
So, to source within Expert Exchange you simply need to create an x-ray string, like the one below.
site:experts-exchange.com/members "Software Engineer"
If you run the strings above in google you will get the results below.
Now I know it only shows 45, but that’s 45 you might not have found any place else.
Now take it one step further and look at the activity part about 1/4 down on the page. Go into any section and you will see people asking and answering questions. Then use your social detective skills and you are set. Example I went into the group discussion area of one person. He had 100 discussions on various subject. I went into one about Javascript. There were over 100 comments each from unique people (several 100 if you count posts from the same person). So, using your social detective skills 45 results are now just in that one discussion turned into over 100.
The key is no matter how few your results in a search if you use your detective skills few become many.
If you need more info on X-raying see my blog post http://www.recruitingblogs.com/profiles/blogs/seeing-what-is-really...
Until next week may the source be with you!!
