HP is Trying out New Tech to Attract University Talent

Celinda Appleby Global Digital Media Lead for HP TA team sent over their latest technology too play with! HP Talent Acquisition announced a new augmented reality (AR) media campaign, “HP Careers”, aimed at inspiring and attracting university candidates by showcasing the employee experience at HP last week.  This IMO is pretty damn cool.  I have always been an early adapter of new technology. I could not help but get geeked out over this announcement.

This campaign employs the latest in augmented reality technology and was created by HP Aurasma to help HP recruit top talent in the university space across a variety of disciplines. HP Aurasma is the groundbreaking AR platform built on Autonomy IDOL technology that connects the physical and digital worlds through image and pattern recognition, allowing people to use rich images instead of text or QR codes to turn search into an action-oriented interactive experience. Unlike QR, which seems to confuse the heck out of people, this reader actually takes you to an interactive site. That alone sold me on the concept.

The campaign started Monday. Candidates can learn about what it’s like to work at HP and career paths available at HP, through fun and informative digital content using the free Aurasma mobile app.  By launching the app and pointing their device’s viewfinder at the HP Careers logo, candidates can make the static image come to life with interactive digital content.  This app furthers the engagement of candidates with HP by allowing them to apply for open positions directly via smartphone/tablet and encouraging them to connect with HP on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.[AC1]

They are going to do a campaign that will be featured at all University events this fall and the Aura, or augmented reality experience, is featured on HP career sites for candidates who are unable to attend campus events.
