Candidate: It sounds interesting, but I am not quite ready to make a move.
Recruiter: Oh, that´s too bad. Let me ask you something. Do you recall meeting someone from this firm last Friday at the conference?
Candidate: Oh yeah, what was his name...
Recruiter: Was his name Timothy Gray?
Candidate: Oh yeah, I think so, yeah... That´s the name.
Recruiter: Well, you know, his office is right across your building. He was very impressed by you. And you know what else, he is the hiring manager.
Candidate: Oh really?! That´s interesting. He seemed like a very nice guy. He is the hiring manager?
Recruiter: Yes, and he wants to meet you to talk about an opportunity with his team.
Candidate: That´s fantastic. What are the odds? It might be worth a meeting.
Recruiter: I know he is unavailable until Thursday, but Friday might work.
Candidate: Friday looks good in the morning, but if not, I can accommodate. I would like to talk to him.
Dear Recruiters, take your time to know your candidate and why he/she is the person you are looking for. Let them feel the love.
Dear Hiring Managers, show genuine interest in the qualities of your candidate and make the interview a personal meeting.
Dear Candidates, ask yourself before the interview, why is this meeting important to my career? Show the interviewer you have asked yourself this question and that you have a good reason to be there with them.
THINGS LOOK MUCH MORE INTERESTING WHEN THAT INTERESTING THING IS PARTICULARLY INTERESTED IN YOU, DON´T THEY?
P.S. Dear Husband, think about why you married me and no one else. Show the wife you would marry her all over again for endless reasons. :)
