Perhaps you missed this story last week; a women who really loves her Chicken McNuggets called 911 - three times - when her local Micky Dees ran out of them and she couldn't get a refund from the manager.

Of course, it sent my mind wondering if there was a parallel to recruiting - of course there is, there's always a connection between anything and recruiting.

What do you do when your recruiting McNuggets run out? Do you call 911 or do you find a new place to buy them? Or do you order something else on the menu?

Do you call back the same hiring manager and recruiter day in, day out - at the same company - or do you see if there are other places, other managers to call?

I think during periods like these rather than stick with the comfort foods we try to eat something else. It's far better than calling 911 and making an arse of yourself.

You mean to tell me there are potentially other options outside of the comfy little bubble I keep myself secluded in?! What a terrifying concept...

You're killing me Steve - but I'm glad to see sarcasm isn't lost 100% of the time once you put it in writing!

Hey I'm with the 911 caller. She's entitled to McNuggets and I'm entitled to placements. If I don't get the job or the placement, I'm calling 911 or President Obama or whoever's in charge so they can take care of it. :)

My 8 year old son loves his McNuggets, chicken fingers, etc. Last year I got sick of it as that is ALL he ate at restaurants. I ordered veal parmasiagn for him. Now he's hooked. In hindsight, I should have got him hooked on a cheaper food!

Steve, you are absolutely correct! I am working with my client recruiting firm owners on this all the time. Sometimes you need to stick to your niche, and many others you need to stop "clinging to the trunk" of the tree you know so well. We know how to recruit, follow the system in a new specialty, and placements will come.

My four year-old loves McNuggets too, he had a 4-pack yesterday infact. He would of been very upset if they had run out of McNuggets. We could of walked next door to Wendy's, but for him, it wouldn't of been the same...

Steve, I love your mind... I saw this article last week, couldn't make a connection... in awe my man, in awe...

PS. you may upgrade to a Big Mac from the McNuggets, but would you pay the difference?
