No excuses, the best candidate wins.

We work in a ridiculously simple industry, we find great people. Although it's complex in execution, the simplicity of it is astonishing. We tend to forget that over time, when the candidates are hard to find or the jobs dry up, we externalize and rationalize our lack of success. In nearly every market there is a shortage of "great" candidates, and it's up to us to find them!

Next time you wonder why the client doesn't call you back after you take a role and present the "perfect" candidate, go back over your notes from the meeting, talk to a colleague who heard all about the job when you picked it up. Chances are you missed the mark on what the client was looking for. Good news, if you haven't spent a week chasing the client for feedback you still have time to present one (or two) other candidates, who might hit the bullseye!
