Wow - lots of action over the last day or so for Rick P. (Jack Roth?)'s new service to sell job leads to folks. The response hasn't been good for the most part and although he did open the can of worms, it still seems like a lot of negativity for one post.

Enough of the bad.

I have a new position to work on! Everybody knows that automotive companies have been slow lately so once I filled the last of my previously approved positions I thought it would be months until I got to actively recruit external talent again. In the words of Lee Corso...Not So Fast!

I got handed an assignment for a capital markets manager yesterday and I had almost forgotten how fun it is to recruit for something you're not an expert in every now and then. For the last four years I've been working almost 100% of the time on engineering jobs with the occasional IT position thrown in for giggles. Now I am finding somebody to work in our treasury department. Isn't that something in Washington or on Wall Street?

I almost felt guilty taking time to research what different acronyms in the job description meant until I realized how much I was learning and how refreshing it was to do something new and out of the norm! Once I had a pretty good base I spent a few hours doing nothing but sourcing candidates, finding contact info and then dialed, dialed, dialed. Most of my contacts who work in search seem to think this isn't the kind of thing us corporate folks do, but man did it feel good.

Happy hunting!
