As recruiters, we are sometimes driven people, always seeking our personal best and we also impact a lot of other lives without even knowing it. So keep paying it forward... it truly works!
Last week I received a DM on LI from my former executive coach "deep mind explorer" Erl-Morrell Stinson
He asked me to meet him at Biaggi's it was time for us to catch up. It had snowed several inches here but he sounded so lit up I wanted to know why. Traffic was a little thick starting to let up and it gave me time to think of how much he had impacted my life. I met him in 2006 at the MN Entrepeneurs
and started the conversation because I had been seeking a coach and done a lot of personal assessment and wanted the next level which was the real change. I had been seperated for over a year and knew I had learned a set of ugly dance moves as I let my passive aggressive ex lead our waltz. I wanted real change and to not repeat the "ugly dance" with my next partner. Over the next 12 weeks we worked each week a couple hours with "homework" for me to do like "mapping my decision making process'. Doing this allowed me to identify a behavior pattern in myself and insert a question at a key point that helped me feel better when I did what I committed to but the other person/s did not. That single step has helped me in every area of my life. At home with my family, in my friendships and personal relationships and most noteably in my business dealings. It is only one of many things I learned. The process known as NLP Neuro Linguistic Programming is how you learn new behaviors.
Where he knew the psychological world and coaching at what I consider an expert level, he needed work to formalize his modules and attract new accounts. What I didn't know was that I had given him ideas to formalize and even named the "awakening program" as it was how I felt. This had led him to meet amazing new partners and clients as well as speaking engagements. He is now working on something new that I could have a role in more on that another day.
I think of all the people I have talked to and said something key to... something that was an "awakening"
I also think of people I could have been more helpful to...
