Picture worth a thousand words? LinkedIn thread debates for diversity

Should Minorities, Women and Seasoned (older) Workers post their picture on LinkedIN? This question on LinkedIn posted by Derrick Douglas MBA got 118 comments! Wow I am amazed at the perceptions and believe there is an obvious disconnect. One of my favorite activites working with companies is to identify chinks in their corporate armor in terms of Diversity Recruitment. This is where we look at the difference between what we say we value and how we show that. These comments generally ran in… Continue

In Honor... MLK

It is said in a Call to Conscience (the Landmark speeches of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.) “that his dream of American moral possibilities expressed a universal hope for mankind.”

I was barely 10 days old when he gave the Eulogy for the youth of the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church who were murdered. But these words are still fitting today in many ways..

“And so I stand here to say this afternoon to all assembled here, that in spite of the darkness of this hour (Well), we must not… Continue

Last week I received a DM on LI from my former executive coach "deep mind explorer" Erl-Morrell Stinson

He asked me… Continue

Power of Intention escalated by Social Media

Friday I attended the MN Recruiters Unconference at Best Buy HQ I arrived late due to previous engagements and only got to see the last 2 presenters. What a contrast! A great job by MN Recruiters bringing in differing opinions on Social media Use by Corporate America. Teresa Thompson from Fredrikson and Byron took a very legal point of view and showed us scary pics of workplace incidents like employees bathing in the dish sinks at fast food places and posting them online... I agree these need… Continue

Managing High Demand Talent Markets

Throughout the past year I have attended several conferences and heard speakers from a variety of Fortune Companies including leaders like Campbells Soup, Microsoft, Adidas talk about using social media to stay in touch and engage the talent markets for the future. Micorsoft Melvin Smith said they have a no one leaves the loop policy. So whether for the near or far future they have come to realize that talent markets are definitive and need to be groomed and cultivated and that your bench… Continue
