Random Thoughts On Recruiting - We Are The New Japan

This is a great and quick look at where I think we are right now in regard to business conditions. For some time I have thought that we are much like Japan, 20 years later. They peaked in 1989 with a huge bubble and an older population, way too much leverage. 22 years later, there has been no real recovery from that. Not a depression, just a long malaise.

We peaked in '07. I don't think we have gone through any real deleveraging yet. To me it looks like we have a long road ahead, could be 10 years, could be 20, who knows. It's important to understand that there are people and companies in Japan that have been making it work and doing well over the last 20 years. We've seen companies and industries doing well the last couple of years here as well, and a whole bunch that are not. I think any company can make it work and work well in the post bubble world. It's just more challenging than it was before.
