I have to admit that last week I left the show feeling a bit down. The Awards Show is usually the best show of the year but it certainly wasn't this time and there's many reasons why.
1. I belong to a genealogy society. I'm one of the only members who appears to know anything about blogs so the president asked me to create a blog for them. It was fun and it has the potential to change the organization and I got carried away with that so I did not plan the show until the last minute. And the awards show takes a lot of planning. Lesson: don't show people how much you know or they will start asking you to do things for them.
2. Because I put the show together at the last minute I didn't have a well laid out plan. So when technical problems derailed the show - right at the start - it was hard to get back on track. Lesson: Try not to wing it.
3. When things started going wrong I felt that everything was going wrong. It wasn't.
4. I didn't stick to the plan I had. If I would have the show would have proceeded fairly well. But it didn't.
