Facebook is the largest social network in the world and is getting bigger. It is far too frequently misunderstand by the recruitment industry.

Sure it might not be LinkedIn and so people will not just be using it for work and updating their job details on there. But with over a billion monthly active users can you afford to ignore it as a recruiter?

Facebook is the largest database of talent you will ever come across as a recruiter so here are a few statistics to prove its worth!

  • Facebook is the 2nd most visited site on the whole web
  • 29% of people check Facebook whilst at work
  • Over 680,000,000 Facebook users browse via mobile
  • 1 in 5 Facebook friends are work contacts and 1 in 5 status updates are work related
  • 1 in 4 Facebook users have never adjusted their privacy settings meaning you can view their page
  • Facebook is the largest social network in the world
  • Only 22% of recruiters are using Facebook to source candidates
  • On an average day 600,000,000 people will log into Facebook, which compares to 35,000,000 for LinkedIn
  • You can send messages to anyone who is a friend of a friend on Facebook, so if you build a sizeable work related community on Facebook you will rapidly develop a network of people you can message on a similar scale to that which you have already acquired on LinkedIn
  • Only 12.7% of recruiters have successfully placed a candidate via Twitter, whilst 16.7% of recruiters has placed a candidate via Facebook
  • 65% of the UK’s online population use Facebook at least once each month, compared to only 13% for LinkedIn
