So many people are seeing the need to have social presence. For obvious reasons, whether to find a job, do their job better or just have fun. However jumping in and just getting on all the sites are once can lead to trouble. When I started to become “Social”, I had a staged plan. Today I will outline that plan.

Stage 1- I started with the 2 biggest and a way to spread my message

  • Linkedin – largest business social site
  • Twitter-  largest quick message site
  • My Blog- personal way to spread my message
  • Recruiting Blogs- largest industry(for what I do) social site

Stage 2

  • Google+ - Googles answer to Social
  • Facebook-enough said

Stage 3

  • Klout- first social ranking
  • Pinterest-being a Microsoft person I started with this picture social site
  • Slideshare- this is for my presentations

Stage 4

  • YouTube- for video
  • Instagram- the monster in the room for picture social

Stage 5

  • Flickr- Yahoos Picture Social site
  • TBD

Stage 6

  • TBD

The main reason for having a staggered approach is to allow me to get into a rhythm and have a plan for posting so that it did not take up to much of my time. Doing it this way allowed me to get that plan and rhythm. Now how long between stages is up to you. Do you research and determine which sites are best for you to start, and which ones are better left for latter, or not even used.
