Sourcecon 2013: Creating a Self-Sustaining Sourcing Team

Sourcecon 2013: Creating a Self-Sustaining Sourcing Team

The Session was about creating a self-sustaining sourcing team. Mark Tororici ran this session, and started it in a very interesting way. “First the good News” which was the market for sourcers and recruiters is hot. You can imagine the cheers on that one. Of course if there is good news there has to be bad news and for Mark the bad news is the market for recruiters and sourcer is very hot. Confused yet? Well to sum it up he goes on to explain while its great there is such a great demand for recruiters and sourcers that fact also makes it hard to keep recruiters and sourcers and sustain your model, and knowledge base.  Add to that if your good your not available which means a lot of subpar recruiters and sourcers are all you have to choose from. His idea is to constantly train and evaluate your sourcers while also looking for potential people who can be trained as sourcers. Remember if you have some experienced good sourcers you can afford to hire some junior ones and train them. The idea being about the time you might loose one of your main personnel the juniors ones will be ready to go. In the meantime take care of the ones you got and try not to give them any reason to want to go anyplace else. He goes on to define at a high level some training points such as; tools, internet, social, etc. All in all a good presentation, most is common sense with a few interesting ideas as I noted above.
