Taking Social Media Recruiting To The Next Level

Staying active on social media sites like Twitter and LinkedIn is definitely a survival tactic that is required for today's online recruiter. But never forget your site has to be the most effective cause for conversation. Today I will outline a method that recruiters can utilize to make the most of the ever increasing popularity of online social media.

The main step: Create a Blog

140 character posts are not enough space to provide valuable information. Link your microblog posts to pages on your new blog and provide additional information about your topic, the blog greatly expands to scope and breath of the microblog; thus, Twitter becomes an area to entice visitors to your site. Follow the steps:

1. The tweet becomes a headline on social media sites.

2. The reader clicks the provided link pointing to the blog posts and gets information in greater

detail.

3. The blog page points to a link on your main site that provides even more info and responds to any

buyer objections.

Remember ABC, always be selling; at each of these phases provide a means of action. A signup link, a link to submit a resume, a post a job link, a comment area etc.

Can this be Tracked

The answer simply is yes. Google provides atool for measuring your traffic activity called Google analytics. This tool tracks click-throughs from all traffic sources. Search for "Google URL Builder" and this tool will increase the performance of the standard Google analytics program. With URL Builder a form is provided where one can design a new campaign.

Ex: A link like: http://speechjob.us/bestjobsite can become

http://speechjob.us/bestjobsite?utm_source=Twitter&utm_medium=M...$utm_bestjobsite

Shrink this new link in your tweet and the legnth is no problem and one now has a very powerful means to measure performance. This gives you feedback and you can determine what microblog posts provide you with site traffic, and can repeat the ones that do and change the tweets that don't.

This pattern greatly improves your conversion rate and makes greater use of the amount of time spent on social media sites; and the best part of it all is it's performance easily measured.
