When you think of the common traits of a recruiter, you typically think about many; driven, motivated, gregarious, talkative, hard working....the list can go on. This list will be full of strong adjectives and can become quite the long list.

I have boiled the traits of a recruiter down into two: Fight or Flight.

A fighter is in it to win, takes the punches, takes his/her bumps, rides the coaster up and down. When pushed/backed into the corner, this person will come out swinging! During the down times, the "fight" mentality is a huge adrenaline rush, and they work harder, smarter and harder (did I say that twice)? Even after 3 months of blanking, the "fight" is still motivated by the internal need to win!

Flight is the other trait. This person can take only so many hits/bumps/bruises, until it is too much and then they look at other options; change jobs, make excuses, don't make as many calls, don't follow a daily regiment and have limited motivation, no matter their primary motivating factor.

We all have our down moments, believe me I have seen this occurrence with several recruiters and experienced it more than I care to count (that's why I don't keep count).

So which trait suits you? Focused or Foggy, Fearless or Fearful, Fight or Flight!!
