With Social media being popular and the most used tool for sourcing and recruiting candidates, it is only natural that improvements will be made to Search Engines in the near future. Hence, an article on, “The Future of Semantic Search Engine” comes to the fore. In order to understand the future of the Semantic Search Engine it is essential for one to understand its meaning, How it functions and what are the advantages of this form of system?
So let’s begin by addressing the crucial question, what do you mean when you say Semantic Search Engine?
As the name suggests it is an added feature to a ‘Search Engine’ for instance Google, Yahoo or Bing. The term ‘Semantic Search’ refers to improving searches to get accurate results by understanding the ‘searcher’s intentions’ combining the ‘contextual’ meaning of the ‘terms entered’ into a search engine ‘as they appear’ in the ‘searchable data – space’, whether on the ‘web’ or ‘within’ a ‘close system’. Put simply, it is a better way of obtaining ‘accurate’ and ‘relevant’ results by ‘understanding’ the ‘intention’ of the ‘searcher’ when he/she enters ‘related words’ in their search along with the ‘meanings’ and ‘relevance’ to the ‘words used’. The main objective of a Semantic Search is to achieve better and more accurate results when searches are conducted.
A Semantic Search begins when a searcher enters their search words. The words used are generally related to each other. This search engine takes into account the searcher’s intentions of using those specific words including the relevance of each word. Once all these aspects are considered it then displays the most relevant and accurate results. Now that we have a clear understanding of Semantic Search Engine we will move onto addressing the topic in question.
Advantages of a Semantic search
Even though it sounds like a relatively new topic it has been around for quite some time. Word has it that a Semantic Search Engine can boost the number of accurate results due to the way it functions. This type of Search Engine just might be the answer to most recruiters and sourcers using Social media to capture talented individuals.
Popular social network sites like Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and LinkedIn are planning to incorporate the Semantic Search into their Search Engines too. The main objective of social networks including a Semantic Search into their Search Engine is the accuracy rate and to streamline the searches. This development will make the task of a sourcer or recruiter easier.
The reason why a Semantic search is probably the best choice is because apart from the words that are entered into a search engine, a semantic search even takes into consideration the searcher’s intent with the words mentioned. Besides one can now type in a full question and still receive relevant and accurate results.
With the popularity of sourcing via Social media, the future of such a search engine looks bright. This particular method of recruiting is gaining momentum in the field of recruitment and hence the possibility of more and more social media incorporating this feature into their individual search engine looks promising. Especially since popular search Engines like Google have already incorporated it into their search engines.
Due to all these reasons if a Semantic Search Engine is incorporated successfully into various social media channels in the near future, most recruiters and sourcers will benefit from such a search engine. These individuals are likely to use a search engine that has this feature as the results of sourcing individuals will be more relevant and accurate too. This in turn will boost the selection process and recruiters and sourcers will be able to recruit qualified individuals at a much faster pace.
