The Staffing Professionals, Recruiters, and Sourcers Scripting Language!!!!
So boolean search strings, the operators, and all that makes up a search string, what is it really? I mean it is technical, to a point. So is it a language, is it scripting, is it just something different.
The definition of a scripting language is - A scripting language, script language or extension language is a programming language that allows control of one or more software, web based, or cloud based applications. Guess what, that means the boolean search string we create are by definition a scripting language.
Now Boolean is actually a data type, however the search string that we create to access the data within these applications, from HRIS, ATS, to job boards, to free internet searches, are by definition a type of programming language.
Now why is that relevant, well perhaps it is not, but it puts more emphasis on why sourcing, and being able to "program" and create good boolean string is so important and so hard. For me it is just kind of interesting to think all this time, those of us who actually create our own boolean strings are by definition programming at some level.
