The Stay At Home Conference - coming soon to a couch near you.

When it's time to shut the computer and go to bed, if you force yourself maybe a couple of extra minutes, sometimes you find something that made those extra few minutes worth it. Like tonight for instance, I don't know how many other people will find this interesting but if you look at this page which looks like a Onrec/Kennedy page, you will notice it's on HR.com (love the domain name) who has partnered with Onrec and Kennedy to reproduce the entire show virtually for all those who are unable to make it.

I find this interesting cause I have no idea what it means other than what it says on that page. It means something to the recruiting conference industry on a go forward basis but now I am going to try figure it out for a few more minutes and then shut the computer. It's probably nothing really but I bet a lot of change is coming this year.

I got that page link from Steven Rothberg's Blog.

(I make no money at all if you sign up to attend the Onrec conference next week in Chicago from the comfort of your very own home)

Jason,
Thanks for the heads up on this. I just signed up for a virtual day. This is a great idea.

I think this may be the future of conferencing.

what I found interesting is how 3 previously large independent conferences are partnering.

It's a great concept for capturing sponsors -their revolving message(s) at the bottom of the delivery stream

I went out to California for the Social Recruiting Summit but didn't have a ticket and watched the livestream from my hotel room
You mean they wouldn't let you in? Shame on them!

I think it depends why you go to conferences and what you do in recruiting. As a third-party recruiter, I'm not going to get on a plane for a recruiting conference. I only just went to my first conference a little over a year ago. It was local and I enjoyed it tremendously. I wasn't there to network. I was there to learn specifics that I could take home and apply, new ways of thinking of things. This is why the virtual conference appeals to me so much. Because for me it's all about the info and if I can see a transcript, watch a video, especially on my timetable, that's ideal as it doesn't require missing days of work.

However, the technology needs to be working. I just jumped on a call for a virtual conference and hung up after 10 minutes because there was a screaming child somewhere in the background drowning out the speaker... :)

Here's a LinkedIn question by Rohit Talwar - Futurist Speaker, asking about the future of conferences.
