The Ultimate Guide to help you Prepare for your Website Design Interview

First impressions are key when it comes to any interview. When it comes to multimedia jobs and website design, first impressions are just as vital. Watching your P’s and Q’s are important and so is being prepared. This article will give you a few tips on what to do to prepare as best as possible for a web design interview.

Get Yourself Prepared

Whatever your past work or experience, make sure you get it ready to showcase it in the interview. Whether this means you bring it in on a usb key or you have website examples that you could show off, make sure that everything works before hand because nothing says unprepared like a broken link! Get your research done about the company so you know who your trying to get a job with and sort out your appearance so you don’t look scruffy like you’ve just rolled out of bed! Gauge the tone of the interview for your appearance. If it’s a formal interview, a smart suit is always preferred. If it’s a bit more laid back, maybe go in jeans and a smart shirt.

Time Keeping

This is pretty obvious but never turn up late or just before your interview time. Always turn up with plenty of time to prepare yourself mentally. If you’re not punctual, that says you’re not responsible. If you cant even turn up on time to the job interview then what are you going to be like with deadlines? Being punctual is vital.

Let the Passion Flow Through

Make sure that whatever subject you’re discussing, you do so with passion. You can’t sit there and discuss your portfolio with not even a hint of a smile. Present your work and your experiences with a passion that tells them you really deserve the job and you’re the person they are looking for. Always be prepared to answer any questions on your work, including any critical feedback that you might receive!

Engage in Conversation

It can be difficult to talk to the job interviewers as a friend because at the end of the day, they could potentially hold the key to your future. However, make sure you engage with them on a professional and personal level where possible. This doesn’t mean asking them what they did at the weekend, but more initiating conversation to do with the job/company and just generally being a friendly person! If you’re an outgoing personality, make sure that comes across in your persona!

Hopefully these little tips will see you through your job interview and you’ll end up nailing it! Web Design opportunities such as Kalexiko jobs and other web design jobs are perfect for designers so make sure you put as much effort in as possible to nail the interview! Good luck and just remember to prepare yourself in the days before the interview and you’ll be fine!
