As big supporters of Comic Relief - and inspired to don our baking hats more than once by the Great British Bake Off - we thought we’d get involved this year by organising our very own 'Building Bake Off'.
So at 10 o’clock today we headed downstairs with five other enthusiastic judges - unfortunately Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood were unable to join us - to carry out a little tasting!
With so many beautiful bakes to choose from, it was hard to decide on our favourites but, as the tasting continued, some clear winners emerged…
These Oreo Cake-lets were ever so moreish, especially when you came across the hidden Oreo at the bottom!
This beautiful Strawberries and Cream Victoria Sponge caught our eyes from the start. This will definitely be a favourite at the bake sale!
Our most adventurous baker brought an interesting flavour combination to the table – coffee, orange and chocolate chip. A clear winner for this category!
These delightful Cherry-Chocolate Cupcakes. The combination of chocolate and cherry produced a rich, moist bake. A real show-stopper!
Whilst we had lots of fun judging these cakes, we had even more fun eating them. And with all the proceeds of the ensuing bake sale going to Red Nose Day, there couldn’t be a better reason to hold a Bake Off!
Ok...now I am starved!
yummmm...
