Wasted Email…Not really!!
How many times have you sent an email to connect with a candidate, only to get a no thanks. Answer is a lot, the bigger question is what was the messaging you emailed that made you get nothing but no thanks. Contrary to popular belief just because someone says no thanks does not mean it is a failed email. What it does mean is you messaging is wrong, it is sent with a single purpose. Now try sending one that appeals to the perspective candidates ego, and not only suggest you should talk about their skills, and perhaps a possible opportunity but suggests you connect on linkedin, or other social media sights. Add to that suggesting that they may be able to help their friends find positions by recommending them. Too often these days staffing professionals send out their initial contact emails, with a single purpose, forgetting that even if they say no thanks, you can still get a win if you get them to connect with you or recommend others. Connection emails should be sent with a 3 pronged message, this way you are more likely to come away with some kind of win and there for have not wasted your email.
