On my team's blog Insights from the Riviera, we have been featuring a series called "Weird Interviewing Experiences". Normally, we feature quick 1-2 minute interviews from Human Resources, Recruiting, and Staffing professionals on their weird, strange, and bizarre interviewing experiences from their own career. Today, we thought it would be fun to go back in time, about 40+ years… to revisit The Mary Tyler Moore Show. During the first episodes of the show (from September 1970), Mary Richards (played by Mary Tyler Moore) applied for a job at WJM Television in Minneapolis. There, she met Lou Grant (played by Ed Asner) who put her through one of the weirdest interviewing experiences there could be! Unfortunately, the kind of interview that you will watch Lou give Mary is sadly, still practiced by some hiring managers in 2011!
