What makes you more employable in 2010? #5

Trait #5 Team Work

Today we are discussing trait #5 Team Work, as an important trait to master to make you more employable in 2010.

Team work is having the ability to recognise the diverse strengths and abilities of members in the group, then utilising those skills to achieve a final target. It is contributing your talents and skills and being able to combine them with two or more people contributing different skills, but working with them toward a common goal.

In this current competitive market, getting the right job can be a challenge. With the Global Financial Crisis, the market has been flooded with more people competing for the same positions, with the similar education background and experience.

We at SMStheJob know that to separate yourself from the crowd, is being an effective team player. Examiner.com has great article “people skills to give you an edge in your job search” that contains some great tips on how to demonstrate your team work skills.

People who are able to gel well with their colleagues and work together are more employable, as they are able to work cohesively toward the employers business goals. The larger and ambitious the business goals are, the more employers need their staff to work together to achieve those targets. Constructing professional relationships and working together as a team goes a long way in achieving dynamic business success.

Homework…

1. Get a group of family or friends together try doing one of the tasks, as suggested by About: Business School

a. Build a house of cards with 10 cards;

b. Form a line according to height (tallest to the shortest);

c. Think up and write down 20 words that start with the letter “K”;

d. Create and write down 5 questions that have the same answer.

2. Review our previous blog articles 1, 2, 3 & 4. As all these articles help you become more employable in 2010.
