New and young companies are the primary source of job creation in America. Over the past twenty-five years, the majority of private sector jobs have been created by businesses less than five years old. Currently, America’s 28 million small businesses create 65% of new jobs and employ over half the nation’s workforce.

In the past year, Florida businesses have led the nation in job growth, adding 252,000 private-sector jobs. Business-friendly legislation is one reason why companies choose to do business in Florida. In addition favorable taxes, strategic location and, of course, the weather adds to the desirable qualities of this destination. Eighteen of the largest global banks currently have headquarters in South Florida and international firms have based other facilities here to take advantage of its easy access to global markets. 

Optimism is high that 2017 will bring increased employment opportunities to the Sunshine State. For this reason, Forbes placed Florida in two of the top-five spots on their list: "Where The Jobs Will (And Won't) Be In 2017."

This is a fascinating read and I was genuinely surprised to see such a high number of new jobs created in young businesses - it's actually very encouraging.
