This was a high school graduation speech. Couldn't have said it better and it applies to not just high schoolers... I am sure most people here can identify with this.
.
I loved this speech. Check in to reality. The worst thing we ever came up with in my opinion was when we quit keeping score and everybody got a trophy for showing up. That may be half the battle but doing something after one shows up is what makes the difference.
I couldn't help but listen to is a few times, he's right on the money. Its a tough lesson for parents as well, to boost morale we tell kids how good they are but its important to put it in perspective and not let them carried away.
Just graduating from high school or for that matter college is in itself not a differentiator anymore. I even question high school graudation ceremonies (do we really need these), then again what do I now ?
