A Point of View: The foibles of four countries

Not long ago, thinking in despair about the American inability to stop shooting its own children, I wrote that every nation has a core irrationality, some belief about itself that no amount of evidence or experience…

Had to laugh, when I saw this Job Posting ...

We have seen reports of fake accounts on Facebook (about 15-20%), I am sure there are similar fake accounts at other social media websites.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just saw this flagrant posting on a competing Social media site..Job postings such as this are on the rise on these social media groups, makes it a challenge for group owners to keep them away. Unfortunately…

Facebook 'likes' value doubted - No Kidding !!!

I am seeing more articles on slowing of the Facebook hype, its a good sign because we can now focus on any real value for business. Spam or Fake profiles is a problem on Linkedin as well, you will notice a ton of people posting garbage.

Here is BBC article, quite interesting.

Facebook Job Board - This is interesting..

Looks like Facebook is working on a Job Board or is it?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Facebook Inc. (FB) is planning to launch its own job board later this summer, said people familiar with the matter. The board will aggregate the job postings of third-party providers, making them available for search by Facebook users.

While these knowledgeable people said the new effort doesn't yet signal that Facebook is making a full-blown…

Social Network Engagement - Really? Vast majority are not really in love with your brand...

Makes a lot of sense and this should apply to Social Recruiting as well. People don't join groups or pages to be part of some Brand community that they love (CEO's love to believe that), its more for deals and discounts or in Recruiting (some real info about jobs and careers). There is going to be a small minority who love your brand but a vast majority have better things to do with their time...Interesting article…

You are not Special !!!

This was a high school graduation speech. Couldn't have said it better and it applies to not just high schoolers... I am sure most people here can identify with this.

Is Social Media more effective than Debt Collectors ?

A Minneapolis based company that is in HR space has not paid its bills and could be in financial trouble. After almost a year, they have pretty much gone cold on any responses. Although, they are still operating as far as I can tell.

What would you do? Social Media would be good to inform others of this company and prevent any future occurences.

Conflict of Interest in Recruiting - Post your examples..

After listening to all this debt debate and credit rating agencies, one has to wonder the Conflict of Interest issues with these agencies and how they rate countries AAA rating. Lets face it, its these same credit rating agencies that rated "Packaged Mortgages or CDO" as AAA a few years ago. Banks were sending their "Packaged Mortgages" to Agencies that would give them the best rating, and agencies made money along the way.

We have all seen similar conflicts and its amazing…

Is Social Media the next bubble to burst ?

Just watching the CNBC Street Poll today, currently Social Media has the highest votes on the next bubble to burst

What's the next bubble to burst ? CNBC

We all remember the dot com frenzy before it burst. Companies with solid business plans survived and that would be the case with Social Media or Social Recruiting.

Linkedin - No more Free Job Posts !!!

Linkedin has rolled out a subtle but important change to the groups. When you go to the JOBS section of any group on Linkedin, you now only see Paid Linkedin Jobs, the free jobs are now in subtab (Career discussions). This would dramatically drop the views your Free job post get on Linkedin groups.

Not a surprising move by Linkedin to drive customers to pay for the job posting. If you started your group on Linkedin, now you have less control of it (they did not even notify the…

.jobs in breach of ICANN Registry Agreement

"The recently launched universe.jobs appears to be a job board that advertises job openings for multiple employers. It is our understanding that one registrant, who is a member of SHRM, registered forty thousand second-level domain names in the .JOBS TLD for use on this job board. It appears that Employ Media and SHRM, through the Direct Employers Association, intend to use the .JOBS TLD primarily to compete with other internet job boards. Such use is inconsistent with the purpose stated in the… Continue
