Crowd-sourcing some support to return @animal to Recruiting Animal

Perhaps like me you've been following the saga about Recruiting Animal's Twitter account @animal being hacked. His name was stolen and taken over by some random coder/programmer named "Mikey"

The Twitter handle thief replaced @animal with some hideous, unwieldy and wacky new account name @animaliaaa2

You can read about the timeline of events here: http://recruitinganimal.typepad.com/recruitinganimal/2012/06/my-twi...

Though I've sporadically listened to his blogtalkradio show, I don't officially know the real @animal - we've never met, never spoken live and only communicated via twitter and exchanged an email or two. I have no stake in the matter, but feel that any of us dealing with the same issue would appreciate the help and support of our peers to get this resolved.

Twitter support @support has been unwilling to help, so perhaps a bit of notoriety about this issue might persuade them to show a tad more concern.

For those of you that are active on Twitter, Google+, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Pinterest or any other online venue, how about taking a quick moment to help "Liberate Animal"? If you have any internal connections at Twitter that might care to get involved that would be great too!

A few quick and easy things you can do are:

  • Retweet any of the existing pleas for help
  • Tweet an original message referring to this problem
  • Share the article at "LiberateAnimal.info" with your connections, followers, fans, etc.
  • Post the issue/article link on Google+ and/or give the article +1 to publicize this situation in search
  • Help make this a trending topic on Twitter by taking a stand

Maureen says that the number for Twitter is 415 222 9670  extension for the receptionist is 1103.  if the extensions are sequential dialing 1104, 1105 etc might get someone to somebody who will do something about Animal losing his nom de plume on twitter.

Might be an intereseting experiment to see if the use of social media gets more results than the phone in resolving an issue.
