You always hear the same old tips about how to research into the company, interviewer, role and question preparation. Well we’ve already covered those off in depth in our Ultimate Interview Guide, so we wanted to give you some basic but lesser known tips to get you through your interview and see you into round two.

Here are our five lesser spotted tips…..

1.       At the end of your interview ask, what, if any reservations they have about you.

This will give you the chance to tackle and reverse any doubts They may have, also it gives you another chance to sell yourself in and depending on how well you do that, show off your negotiation skills.

2.       Use suggestive language in conversation – We, Us, Our.

This will imply firstly that you are a team player and secondly that you are viewing yourself as a part of the organisation already. This is a very subtle way of leaving a lasting impression.

3.        Have the solution ready – Explain how your presence will help solve one of their problems.

Here is your chance to show how your skills correlate with the role and how you will add value to their business. If you can address an existing business issue it shows that not only do your skills match but you have taken the initiative to show how you can resolve it, thus showing your value add.

4.       Here’s one you made earlier – Have examples ready and don’t be afraid to bring props.

Always be prepared to corroborate your solutions with an example of how you achieved this in a previous role and what the results were.

5.       Innovate, Creative licence.

Remember the type of interview you are going for and adjust your creativity for your market. For example: If you are going for a Digital Media Buying job, perhaps you could take in an augmented reality app and explain how you could make this work for the companies up coming campaign and show a working example.
