I'm not quite as glib and bullet-proof feeling as I was on Friday (Reference the "Day 4" blog posting).

Yea.  The weekend was OK but I kind of feel like I'm planning for a wedding all over again.  Mountains and mountains of preparation all to be shot in a short period of time.

It wasn't that reading a ga-zillion resumes doesn't seem satisfying, my mental burdens was the stuff on the outskirts.  Friday night was a pure blow off.  I decided to run six miles on Saturday morning which kind of zapped me physically, emotionally, and mentally.  So by 11AM on Saturday, I was some weird neighborhood zombie-blob moving in slow motion doing the lawn and other necessary weekly chores.  My mind was an ocean.  ($5 to first person who guesses who I stole that from.)

When it was time to work, the resumes were endless.  In "Day 4", I outline all of JO's picked up last week.  And so I spent a good portion weeding to find the good ones.  By 6PM today, I've compiled 100's of prospects.  The office robot found over 1000 new contacts by job title.  They've been contacted by e-mail.

I'm not taking credit but I'll be running an experiment for the recruiters calling these 100's of candidates including myself.  I've put together five voice mail scripts that are somewhat similar but very different in approach.  These scripts are going on flash cards and the recruiters will flip through them as they leave messages one by one.  Why do this?  Because I'm curious about Monday doldrums and want to keep our signals to the outside world fresh and coherent.  In other words, I'm hoping this tactic will involve using brain cells a little more than usual.  It's an experiment so we'll see. 

On another note.  I'm a little concerned about the tone of the news recently.  I think I can prove my point if you bounce around the top news sites, the negativity of the outside world really seems bizarre.  I wonder how this affects our clients and candidates.  I think I'm going to challenge the crew to a little trick I learned long ago....when talking on the phone, try to keep smiling.  You'll be received by person on the other end of the horn better.  It's works.  Try it.
