Review: The Blueprint to Achieve an 85%+ Response Rate @StacyZapar

First off Stacy is amazing, one of the best speakers I have ever heard. The first thing she discusses in the intake meeting with the hiring manager, she says be more than an order taker. Ask questions, go over the job description, and make sure you have all the info you need and that you set the rules of engagement.

She then talks about the search, specifically thinking outside the box. Now obviously she is setting the stage for us. She talks about some tools to help us such as the chrome extension “One Tab”, which can save you series memory.  She also goes into referrals. Then comes some of the nitty gritty. Such as mentioning any people that you have in common with the candidate. She talks about not sending out mass emails. Then some more tools; Email hunter to find emails, Rapportive to work in Gmail to find emails.

Now we get into content. First thing is first, stop the generic spam mails. Make your email personal, do your research, know your candidate. This resonated with me as it is what I teach. Another tool tip, social aggregators such as Connectifier, Prophet, OpenWeb, Entelo, Talent bin and more. Social Aggregators are tools that find social info on people. Now back to the messaging, and it is about who should do it. Who would get the best response? Sometimes the Recruiter, sometimes the hiring managers, sometimes someone else. TIP TIP TIP don’t share to much up front. The idea is to get their interest so they want to talk, not scare them away. Keep it short and sweet, provide a call to action, and a way to respond.

Don’t make it hard for them, don’t make them jump through too many hoops. More tools, youcanbook.me to help make it easier to schedule appointments. The key to everything, WIFT= “whats in it for them?”. Make it about them and their career, not about you and your position.

The follow-up, but first another tool. Mixmax a scheduling tool. Now back to the follow-up, make sure you follow up no matter what. Of course please do not be an email recruiter. Pick up the phone, get out there and mingle at events. We now leave you with these import words “tag, Connect, Pipeline, Nurture”.

There you have it, a great presentation, that has it all, and given by one of the best in our industry.
