This is my account of Day 1 “The Afternoon” of Talent 42 2016.

Right after lunch we were back at it with a QA moderated by John V. and with Lisa Nakashohi of Oculus, Annie Rihn of Zillow and Jennifer Boulanger of Booking.com.

Some good stuff came out of it mostly how each company handles recruiting. It was great to hear the different approaches.

Next up came the Concurrent sessions, which were Sourcing roundtables, and leadership rountables.

First up Sourcing roundtables. This is going to be tough as there were many tables and I was running one of them. However here we go:

AmyBeth Quinn ran on one Being a Productive Sourcer and showed the following tools to help you: RecsueTime, TimeTrade and using Outlook categories for making it easier to visualize your calendar. She also discussed using OneNote and Google docs for screen and share.

Next up Amy Miller talked about Leveraging Your Hiring Manager (HM) for Sourcing. The summation of this is you and your HM should be partners and the HM should also help source. One of the biggest pluses for this is most candidates are contacted by recruiters, an HM contacting will get a much bigger response rate. Also most HMs have more technical connections than recruiters do so this leverages their network best.
