New Corporate Recruiting Blog - Success Starts Here

Today, a vision has been realized.

A few years back, I attended my first ERE Expo in San Diego. It was there that I was first truly exposed to blogs, and their possibilities in the world of recruiting. I came home from that event in a frenzy, with a dozen to-do items that I felt we could address, including creating a corporate recruiting blog for my employer at the time (Gary Cluff can attest to this). I saw what Heather, Gretchen and Zoe were doing at Microsoft and it made alot of sense to me. Break down the barriers of communication. Provide compelling content on a regular basis. Tell an authentic story. Connect with your audience and be a part of the conversation about your organization rather than a bystander. Alas, it wasn't the time or place to start a corporate recruiting blog...

...so instead, in June 2006 I started a personal recruiting blog of my own, ...from the trenches. For 18 months, I provided my views and opinions on various aspects of recruiting. I had a relatively small audience though, and started to run out of things to say. Thanks to Jason Davis and RecruitingBlogs.com, I found a new venue to share my thoughts on recruiting and collaborate with this ever expanding community.

The personal blogs were never enough though. My goal from the beginning was to start a corporate recruiting blog, and that goal has never wavered. Fortunately, when I joined RSM McGladrey in November of 2006, my new boss, Ken Bansemer, shared my view that a recruiting blog was the right thing to help grow our recruiting brand. It's taken a while, but we are now at the point where I can officially announce the launch of the new McGladrey recruiting blog:

Success starts here: Your view into what it's like to work at RSM McGladrey | McGladrey and Pullen (http://mcgladreycareers.blogspot.com)

'Success starts here' is an opportunity for us to pull back the top layer and provide a deep view into our culture, our people, and our career opportunities. It will enable us to promote relevant company news and events, offer tips to job seekers, hi-light specific location and local community service events, and provide a personal approach to our recruiting process. It will incorporate multimedia along with text and pictures and provide us the ability to update content on a regular basis. Ultimately, 'Success starts here' will serve as a destination for candidates (primarily at the campus through manager level) who are currently involved in our recruiting process and for those who are being courted for future opportunities with our firm.

I will be just one of several contributors to this blog. As you will see, we have several posts up already, with many more to come. Please visit often, and if you have a blog of your own, please add a link to it (if you do, let me know and I'll be happy to return the favor). We are not claiming to do anything unique or revolutionary here, but I still feel we are breaking some ground here, and we are one of only a handful of companies that have taken the leap and launched a corporate recruiting blog to this point. Finally, I wish to express thanks to all of those who have inspired this and offered your encouragement over the past few years.

Cheers,

Ben

Hey Ben, congrats! I know this has been a long time coming and your patience and dedication to your own blog has been instrumental (I'm sure) in seeing this come to pass. I like the name of the blog - excellent choice. Look forward to seeing how it develops!

Thanks everyone. BTW the name ties directly into our 'Behind Your Success' national marketing campaign. It wasn't even our first choice, we kind of fell into it. It works well though I think.
