Position: Linux consultant
Clearance: Dept. of Commerce Public Trust Clearance
Years of experience: At least 5 years of direct hands-on experience

Brief job description:
Mid-Level Technical Consultant that can provide Linux Systems Management support for Redhat Linux systems. Specific tasks include:
• Provide analysis of highly complex system problems;
• Document all changes, including temporary fixes to existing systems and ancillary programs;
• Account management
o File access permissions
o Add/remove users
• sudo user and script management
• crontab/script management
• Implement user requirements using customized solutions and scripts
• Assist with upgrades which includes preparing a list of currently installed software products and
versions and preparing a list of currently available product versions;
• Provide coordination of system upgrades with government staff and contractors for concurrent
application upgrades as needed;
• Provide problem solving support to other Systems Management team members;
• Diagnose highly complex system failures to isolate the source of problems between hardware components, system software and application programs;
• Provide daily systems management and analysis support to customer, working independently as a particular project or task dictates;
o Prepare reports, proposals, presentation, and briefing papers as directed; and
o Knowledge and experience with the following:
- Operating systems for Redhat Linux
- SAN requirements
- Scripting languages
• Provide problem diagnosis
• Provide proactive planning and support
• Provide performance tuning
• Provide security scan and remediation support
• Provide disaster recovery support
• Provide monthly progress reports
Education, Certifications: BS in Computer Science or related field, SAN management
Specific skills/ required: Unix Administration and Architecture (Red Hat Linux) knowledge, Red Hat Virtualization and architecture, Unix Scripting and automation, ITIL process, GFS and Linux clustering

Skills preferred: Customer Relationship Management, Enterprise Architecture
