Hi all,

Just wondering what the biggest obstacles are on your desk at the moment.  It could be anything . . . clients, candidates, the process itself, etc.  Wondering what the pulse is out there.  Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Since May I have not been recruiting, my boss and the president of our firm asked me to work on my business, not in my business, and that has been growing our direct placement division...which has been a challenge to say the least. From what I see the biggest obstacle (and we are in Oil and Gas) is the qauntity of inventory (candidates) and competition from the client's themselves as well as some corporate recruiting groups at the larger firms. Those names are so big, we struggle competiting with the teir 1 type candidates. We do well up to the interview phase and then our metrics falls off. Something we have to overcome. We have done great with new business development and getting new clients and work on our desk but it is not equating fees like I feel it should.
