OK - taking my family for a weekend camping trip. The first time for my 3y.o. and 14month old sons. I have normal camping gear, books/games (Netflix stream via iPad if in a pinch), food, rain gear, bug spray. Missing anything? This should be quite the adventure. And- like any good recruiter have a interview debrief set up for tomorrow morning.

Make a reservation at the closest Holiday Inn just in case.  It's called emergency preparedness for camping disasters.

The last time i took a bunch of little guys camping the tent collapsed in the middle of the night, something was making noise in the bushes that scared them to death, it started to rain and the crying started.  Spent five hours driving in the mountains of New Mexico trying to find a motel room in the middle of the night.  Camping out in a Holiday Inn with hot water then spending the daylight hours and early evening around the fire has worked out better for future trips.  :)

And check to be sure your cell works nothing is worse than trying to do a debrief in a remote area with limited cell service.

Like I said Tim, Fire and Ice, lots of it.  I will await the debrief.

Since this is an historical event with ramifications of a 1st Time Event...then pay it proper respect by having a camera and/or video camera available to capture the action and in-action shots.  They will prove to be touching, funny, incriminating, and memorable.

o Take a "WIPES"...for obvious reasons.

o Take a Flare Gun...for obvious reasons.

o Stay away from bears, bear cubs, ant hills, rattle snakes and skunks, and anything with foam on its lips...for obvious reasons.

o Take trash bags to collect your trash...because Park Rangers have guns and are authorized to shoot litterbugs on-sight.

Finally, keep telling yourself, "This too will pass."

Enjoy...
