The Recruiting Conference put on by Kennedy Inforation last week was a success. Anna Brekka and her team put on a very good conference and from my many conversations with Anna, she seemed to be pleased with the show.
This Kennedy show was a first for me in terms of live video. I always come home from conferences with lots of video that I put up but this was the first time I had some real estate at a show with lots people around all day long. The video was going, so many people were interested in speaking and answering questions on the fly knowing that there were people on the other end of it watching.
It’s funny, No one at
LinkedIn was willing to talk. I told them there are over 7000 recruiters who have registered on RecruitingBlogs.com and it would be a great opportunity to talk about their new recruiting tool. Still, it seemed to me that no one in the LinkedIn booth had the feeling that it would be ok for them to be the spokesperson for the product. Seems silly to me given what goes on these days in terms of online conversations about LinkedIn. Anyways, I guess Vegas brings a certain level of craziness to some, guess it makes other people real nervous.
Back to the video. I really liked the feedback I got from people about the live video. I will tell you the high of my trip in terms of the Video.
Dennis Smith was interviewing someone and I was walking around and I came across the booth for
nationjob.com The guy there was watching and I came up to him and said something and he said something and then I can’t remember exactly what I said but then he said yah, I’m the
jobboardguy ( I paused )and I was completely blown away.
My goal with the live video was that most importantly it would work. I was worried about it because I knew for it to work, I would have to be really focused on detail. It worked but not exactly the way I wanted it to be. I wanted a tripod setup but my camera would not work with my laptop so, we used the built in camera. Overall, I was very happy with the results and I know how to make it better for next time.
The social side of these conferences is a whole other thing altogether. It’s what keeps me coming back again and again. I have made a lot of very good friends at these recruiing conferences and I meet new people each time that become very good friends. The great thing about it is that the friendships include a love for the recruiting industry. It never makes for a dull conversation.
Arbita and
Zoominfo once again showed their support for a good time by throwing an amazing party in an amazing hotel suite. I ordered all the food and drinks and remember looking at it all and thinking F^%&^$&*^ how in gods name are we going to go through all of it. We did and then some. Both
Don Ramer and
Tad Goltra are people who you should get to know. They do want to help and I know they will make themselves available to you.
There were about 10 people who really helped me down there and I have featured them on RecruitingBlogs.com. They are the people I have featured today at the top of the page. They are:
The Minnesota Headhunter
Kristi Palmer
Rayanne Trumbo
Dave Mendoza
Maren Hogan
Michael Saulnier
Meg Campbell
Claudia Faust
Dennis Smith
Marcus Mindte
Thanks for your help. I appreciate it
