Do you use email to prospect for candidates?  If so, how does it compare to traditional phone banging?

Will email replace most of the phone functions?  i.e. sourcing/candidate development?

Many more people can probably be reached via email, and it can avoid a lot of phone tag?

What do you think?

Does it work well for you?

I use it all.  Some guys want to get an email - other guys don't reply so you should just call them.  I try it all - in a blistering "cover all bases" fashion.  It all works in certain situations - just gotta figure out what that situation is.

In my highly competitive environment I utilize email to hit a broader base of candidates initially while I start calling.  Watch my email as I'm hitting my phone list to see if candidates are available immediately and jump to them on the list if they reply.
