My client has requested I provide a criminal background check on a candidate that interviewed last week.  This is a contingency search.

2 questions:

  1. Any recommendation for a Background Check vendor?
  2. Do you usually bill the client for the cost of the check?

Thanks for any input.

Hi Matt - Gordon Basichis is a member here, his company is the Corra Group. Great service, very nice guy!

I would charge the client, as you have not been paid anything yet and if they don't hire the person you won't get paid. If it is a client that you are trying to "woo", you could offer to then take the fees out of your placement fee when you get one. I assume this wan't part of what you offered as part of the agreement with them, so they shouldn't be expecting you to pay for it.

Thanks Amber, Gordon is helping me out.
