This article would have been great to add to my discussions about why video resumes won't become mainstream. Turns out a huge name in the space, CareerBuilder, has stopped its video resume functionality. Check out the article here. on ERE.

I rest my case.

Adam - good stuff here. Gotta ask you though - hows come you are making a go of telling us video resumes, etc. are out/dead/shot/bunk/lame/worthless/over when your company is a video resume company? Or is this the question you've been waiting for - where you let us know how _oh no, we're no "ordinary" video resume company...?

Enquiring (spelt correctly btw) minds wanna know.
Henry - thanks for the comment and I wish I could say I paid you to ask that question :) I'll provide an answer in a new discussion that I'll put up shortly.

Being a huge company doesn't always mean you have the best way to manage a delicate solution like video resumes.... I think even the smallest company would have a hard time getting their arms around a process that made them useful.

We decided to use the Vipe service because it isn't a resume at all. Sometimes all the person is doing on a maybe 30 second clip is introducing themselves and providing the opener to help get over some of the issues that are unavoidable in phone interviews that sometimes get in the way of progressing to an in person interview.

We have seen a much faster cycle time with presenting candidates and moving to the next step using this service. We have also found that candidates are happy to do it and some even have fun with it.

The company has been very responsive to our needs and a delight to work with. Don't get too bogged down by what large recruitment sites are doing with videos.... it isn't the same as what this company has introduced to the market.

We love it and continue to use it to shorten our hiring cycle. Cheers to the people at Vipe... took and old concept and made it available in a usable format.
