Eliminating unwanted websites when searching for resumes

Hello All,

I attended the ERE Expo in FL last week and was introduced to the work of searching using Google, Yahoo, Live, etc. Since I am new at this I have not mastered eliminating unwanted Web-sites while searching. Could someone provide me with the operators and text of how to do this?

Using google trying making sure that you using -job -jobs -submit -your

You could also do -intitle:job

keyword here inurl:resume jobskill jobskill jobskill (phone OR email) -submit -openings -template -tips -submission -sample -examples -wizard

This has worked well for me to eliminate most job board and sample stuff. It may pull resumes off of job boards, but I have had good luck getting candidates contact info from them anyway.

The first keyword could be the job title: engineer or "programmer analyst" then the other keywords are skill sets...you can add several and back off to get your base set of resumes...

Ok I ran one on google and it seemed ok, you might need to tweak your keywords a bit to make sure you're getting what you want. This is what I ran:

intitle:resume electrician cad detailer -job -jobs -send -submit -you

easy way for most search engine is to use the minus sign and the words that are typically used in job postings instead of resumes. i.e. -jobs -submit -posting

Or you could use a product like eGrabber's Resume Grabber Pro - which will analyze each of the pages in your search and figure out which ones are real resumes. Fairly expensive tool - but it will pay for itself in the amount of time that you get back during each search.

One other thing - you can limit the results to PDFs and .doc files which will 'over eliminate' but will give you a much cleaner list too. (inurl:.doc OR inurl:.pdf)
