Recruiting Animal - Recruiting Animal ShowJD Jason Davis - His Vegas FacePapa John Sumser - in Gay Paree
Recently, I started taping my phone calls. Here's a transcription of one call.

(Ring Ring)

JD Jason Davis: Hey Animal, got a minute?
Recruiting Animal: Yeah sure JD
JD: I've got a great new project going at Recruitingblogs. Can I tell you about it?
Animal: Sure, JD. Go ahead.
JD: Sumser is going to do a series of postings on the 100 most influential people in recruiting.
Animal: Yeah?
JD: Sounds good, doesn't it?
Animal: I don't know. Who's on the list?
JD: I can't tell you.
Animal: Then how do I know if it's good?
JD: Trust me, it's going to be good.
Animal: Are you on the list?
JD: I think so.
Animal: Is Maren Hogan on the list?
JD: I don't know.
Animal: Susan Burns?
JD: I don't know.
Animal: Ami Givertz?
JD: I don't know.
Animal: (silence)
JD: (silence)
Animal: Am I on the list?
JD: I don't know.
Animal: I'm not on the list?
JD: I don't know. He only wants the best
Animal: I'm not the best?
JD: Not the best, I mean the most influential. Who listens to you?
Animal: Who listens to me? Listen, JD, did Sumser ask you for recommendations?
JD: He asked everyone for recommendations. It was on his blog!
Animal: Did you give him any?
JD: I can't say
Animal: Was my name on your list?
JD: I can't say
Animal: Boy, are you my friend or my enemy. I can never figure that out.
JD: Hey, I love you like a brother. You know that!
Animal: Yeah, like Cain and Abel
JD: Who are they?
Animal: Forget it.
JD: No, what does it mean?
Animal: It means I deserve to be on that list. -- What about Shally? Is he on the list?
JD: I don't know
Animal: Mendoza?
JD: I don't know!
Animal: You know, why is everybody against me? I bust my ass trying go viral and Bill Vick finally interviews me after he runs out of everybody else.
JD: Hey, maybe John will make you number 101.
Animal: JD, will you do me a favour?
JD: Sure, anything
Animal: Get outa here! Beat it, will ya? Scram. (hangs up!)

The project should be "100 Most Influential People in Recruiting THAT WE KNOW OF"......

....as in the MOST influential are probably not spending their waking hours making sure every other influential person in recruiting is reading their tweets, blogs, articles, reviews, white papers, interviews and every other piece of warmed-over/passed around coverage of the same old crap.

They are RE - CRUI - TING.

Get it? That's where the influence is. DOING THE WORK. Not blabbing about it all day!

Show me something new, will ya? Oh wait - you can't. There IS nothing new.

The 100 Most Influential People in Recruiting......hmmmmm.......This may be a stoopid question - but, uh, do they have to BE IN recruiting? .....or hanging out on the sidelines sipping their Starbucks and talking about it.

???????

Edit: Adding this: ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Jerry surely you aren't joking about the importance of coffee to Recruiting.... Say it ain't so Jerry.. say it aint so

sweeet

navel gazing at it's finest. I remember Arthur Young did his 100 at recruiter.com. yea im that old.

I recall it was mostly search industry people, not surprisng, since that was his background. does it follow that most of Sumser's will be Thought Leaders ?

the most influential people in recruiting are probably not directly in recruiting- e.g. barack obama and malcolm gadfly.

but Animal MUST be on the list- he gave me my online identity as the beadle.
