I’ve been watching RecruitingBlogs.com closely for the last month or so without being involved much on a contribution level. It’s good to walk away from things for a while to get an outside perspective on what is going on.

The main thing I have noticed is that the level of product promotion and plain old spam is at levels of disastrous biblical proportions. The other major issue is that people join RecruitingBlogs.com and start spamming other members. This is a terrible thing and I ban people when I see it without giving any warning. Maybe it’s not the best way for customer loyalty but I don’t have the time to engage on that level right now.

In the last month I have received many emails from many members letting me know about other members who do not seem legit. It has proved to be a great way to combat abuse so thanks for the heads up when you see it. If the spam issue pisses you off like it pisses me off, and you don’t want to see it on RecruitingBlogs.com, tell me when you see it.

Jerry Albright a long time ago set up a Nice Ad logo and I have been relying on him when he is in the mood to put it on a product or company promotional post. No more, I am going to start doing it with his logo and if the message is not clear in a fun kind of way, we’ll take it to the next step.

Thanks and I really appreciate when you see spam and you tell me about it.

(laughing) "disastrous biblical proportions" - love the tone and the message, and knowing I have a place to play, learn, grow....that also hates Spam as much as I do. Phew.
It made me laugh as well.
..."disastrous biblical proportions"
That's saying quite a lot!
Can you offer a point of clarification here Slouch? Can one promote their own agenda (whatever product, service, philosophy, etc.) on their RBC Blog - just not in the forum section? I don't think any of us are looking for rules, per se, but a general thought from the Head Supreme Founder might be useful. Just on that one topic......
I think that blogs would be a better place to talk about it and promote it and then of course that can become too much so how about we just be respectful and when it looks like someone is trying to get something for nothing, they probably are. I don't think we should have rules. So far we have not needed any.

I've always refrained from sticking the Nice Ad reply in someone's blog - even though quite often someone comes here, blogs about their product and then never comes back......

I'm going to put them in the forum discussions. The last time we had promo on a blog post and I got involved with that, it was the biggest sand storm I have seen in 5000 years. You remember that.
