join up with www.xing.com. This is similar to LinkedIn but based in Germany. At least half of t he Germans speak English. They have groups you can join to get to know other recruiters. Don't forget to check out 3rd party opportunities. Many of the big executive recruiting firms are International.
Hi Todd
While not an expert on the Europe recruiting scene, I am responsible for staffing businesses in several countries there (aquent.com). Its evident to me that there are really only two countries where speaking only English would still allow you to work effectively in recruitment - and they are Holland and Germany. In my travels and work in Europe I have come across several established recruiters working in those market who do not speak the local language. Of course they are working mainly with multinational clients, but its also true that the business population in those countries do speak English in the main - particularly the Dutch. The German recruitment industry is severely depressed right now but I would start by making approaches to staffing firms in Germany that work in your specialty. Hope that helps !
Hi Todd,

I have been sourcing and recruiting in and for Germany, Europe and EMEA during the past 5 + years (prev. managed a 1.5year European project)...recruiting practices and, particularly employment laws and practices are a bit different here . Most younger Germans speak English quite well, but it helps to be able to speak German (I do), especially when dealing with companies / hiring manager).
As a colleague pointed out, the economy is sluggish at the moment but, there are opportunities. Please feel free to contact me .

Kind regards,

Jennifer
