Can anyone recommend a cold call training solution or preferably webinar. Like many, retrenching in this economy and have to get back to basics heavily. Haven't been cold calling for candidates in years and need to retool in a hurry.
Should be so simple and basic, but having major trouble organizing as well as having the confidence that can creep up and hold you back.

Feel free to call me Gregg. 260-347-1715 any time.
If you want to take a great class, I'm a huge fan of Peter Leftkotiz training, www.morgancg.com I've been through his training several times and it's nuts and bolts how to recruit/source/cold call, etc.

If you just want a great cheat sheet you can refer to, this article from Lou Adler on ere.net is phenomenal. Walks you through the entire cold call from sourcing to recruiting and getting referrals.
Enjoy!

Pam, thanks so much for the reply. Funny that i took his training many years back when i first got into recruiting. Went to his working ranch in Kansas City as well. Unfortunately, i cannot afford the $$ right now for a refresher. i think my main issue right now is overcoming this stupid fear i am dealing with and organizing well enough to just do it.

So possibly it's more of a motivation issue than actual technique and approach? You could always do what my old bullpen boss use to do -He'd hand a "slacker" a mirror and say "Here. Now you can watch yourself starve to death."

Not the best tactic - but in those days it was the norm. It's really pretty funny. We are in sales after all. Just pick it up and don't set it down unless you REALLY have to take bathroom break!

definitely more motivation than anything which is killing me especially because i know that is the problem. I think i need to make my contact list, turn the damn computer off, sit down and bust out the calls and continue until i am done. But of course, easier said than done. there is a company i found also called advanced recruiting trends that does a webinar for like $129 or somehting like that. i might give it a shot as well. something like that i can afford and it might give me that extra boost i need.
you still open to a telephone call as well?

I have tons of free advice and opinions! I am always available to help a fellow recruiter take a different look at their situation. 260-347-1715. I'll be out for about an hour then back for a bit.

We have a Les Paul memorial kicking off around 3 so won't be available from then on today.

gregg - I had some further thoughts after reading the post again.. I think things like motivation, and confidence are really the caboose on the train, and trying to attain those things first can be counterproductive to getting where you want to go.

Courage should be first..what good is learning if what we learn is never applied? or only applied halfheartedly? apply it correctly or incorrectly, just keep moving and correct your course as you go..you'll be surprised at what comes back..

Confidence comes afterward..after you know that you know what you know. only by acting with courage can we develop confidence over time.

Discipline is the brother of courage.. make yourself move forward, regardless of how you feel that moment.

Motivation? that's easy - if you don't move forward, you'll die where you remain, eventually.

organization? that's easy too - just pick someone to call, and call them. and then pick another.. heck, pick five people in a row to call, and don't stop until you call them all. the outcome is irrelevant.. at this point, you are re - learning how to do something, and again, I think you'll shock yourself as to what comes back to you.

not trying to sound flip, but we as humans can really over complicate things..it's all mindset..technique is secondary.

remember Tom's golden rule: anything worth doing is worth doing badly until you get good at it.
