In a recent MagicMethod seminar we were talking about shortcuts and the subject came up about how one can tell an experienced sourcer from a not-so-experienced sourcer. Speaking from a telephone names sourcing perspective, here are a couple down-and-dirty tricks one can ask to see if the person purporting to be a "telephone sourcer" really is!

“Tell me, what's the area code for Ft. Worth, TX? Albuquerque, NM? San Jose, CA? Waltham, MA?” You get the idea…

“What time is it, right now, in Los Angeles? Birmingham, AL? Houston, TX? Las Vegas?” Again, you get the idea…

And, if they’re saying they source internationally…
“What’s the country code for the UK? Hong Kong? Bahrain? Tokyo? Perth, Australia? St. Petersburg? Shanghai???"

“What time is it right now in Kazakstan? Algeria? France? Melbourne, Australia???"

There are other ways to scope phone sourcing experience – which do you use?
